Church House-sponsored Corie Mapp repeats his 2018 success.

Born in Barbados, Corie is a former Lance-Corporal in the Household Cavalry, in which Church House Director, James Johnsen, also served.

His prowess on the bobsleigh has led to him enjoying European Championship and World Cup success, and before this, he represented Team GB in the celebrated Warrior and Invictus Games. An inspirational figure, Corrie's story is one of incredible achievements in the face of enormous adversity. In 2010, whilst serving in Afghanistan, he lost both his legs when his vehicle ran over an explosive device. Unconscious for two weeks, an allergy to morphine complicated his recovery. Still, despite this, just one month after suffering such a horrific injury, he started to walk again with the aid of prosthetic legs.

James Johnsen commented on his incredible achievements:

"As an ex-serviceman myself, I have nothing but admiration for Corie, both for the service he gave his country, which came at such great expense to him and for his subsequent response to the injuries. There is much for us to learn from his story, and as a company, we felt strongly that he deserved our support. We now look forward to following his fortunes and more successes to come."

Corie Mapp's achievements are nothing short of extraordinary. In 2021, he published his autobiography, 'Black Ice,' in which he shares that after just one year of training, he won gold in the inaugural Para Bobsleigh World Cup competition held at St Moritz in 2014.

Long-time Cresta Run enthusiast and Church House CEO Jeremy Wharton is a regular in St Moritz and has also ridden the Bob run several times in a monobob. He said of Corie:

"This is not a sport for the faint-hearted, and I am in awe of how someone with Corie's disabilities can perform to such an incredible standard. He has shown amazing determination to become an elite sportsman. Everyone at Church House is delighted we can support him in his endeavours, and it is a great reminder of what is possible when you have an unwavering focus and determination".
