Monday, 19th February, 2018

As an independent assessment, Fund and Manager ratings are helpful for both professional advisers and retail investors. They are ultimately in place to help both make more informed decisions, which in turn then allows more people to enjoy the benefits of an actively managed investment portfolio.

Jeremy Wharton is the manager of the Church House Investment Grade Fixed Interest Fund and he also co-manages the Tenax Absolute Return Strategies Fund. 2018 is the third year in succession that Jeremy has achieved Alpha Manager status. His Fixed Interest Fund has enjoyed consistently strong support since Jerry took over the management back in 2005. In what is a very competitive sector, we have seen the value of assets grow more than tenfold, over the last decade.

FE Alpha Manager Ratings, rate the performance of a fund manager over their career including all funds they have managed and places worked. They are designed to distinguish fund managers who have consistently performed well over the longer term. Approximately 2500 managers are analysed for this rating and only the top 10% of managers, who meet the scoring criteria, are deemed FE Alpha Managers.

Tenax is our Absolute Return Strategies Fund and it recently took the Platinum Award at the 2018 Portfolio Adviser Wealth Manager Awards. 2017 marked the ten year anniversary of the fund, which has now delivered a positive return in eight out of those ten years. Record inflows for 2017 have seen the fund size grow by almost 140% over the calendar year.

FE Crown Fund Ratings enable investors to identify funds that are strongly outperforming their benchmark. They are based on historical performance relative to an appropriate and targeted benchmark selected by FE. Only the top 10% of funds will be awarded five FE Crowns
